"ARROYO"

A dry channel through which water flows intermittently and irregularly. Kind of like this blog.

My art is an infectious need for me, sometimes a burden but most often a blessing.

This blog is about me and my obsessions, my loves, my need to create and my need of JUNK. I'm addicted to thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets and all roads leading off the beaten track to discover that perfect piece of junk. I recycle old license plates, old shovels, wheelbarrows, saw blades and anything else that's funky using my hand held plasma cutter. I love working with steel, sculpting, photography, watercolor painting, stained glass, and turning everyday utilitarian objects into art. Junked cars ~ I will always veer off the path to search out the beautiful wrecked Arroyo JunKers throughout Arizona, New Mexico and anywhere else the road may lead. When I'm not searching for those JunKers

Repurposed - Repainted - Resurrected Trivets

I've been stockpiling old antique Trivets for sometime now.  I have large to very small.  I was drawn to their ornateness and of course they are steel or cast iron and I knew I could use them in different aspects of my art.  I've used them on my license plate butterflies as part of there tails (do butterflies have tails?), like this one.

There are so many things you can do with them, transfer photos to them, cut stencils in steel and replace the tile.
So today, since I wasn't in the mood for welding and getting dirty I figured I paint on one.  I really love how it turned out.  You have an instant frame for one of your paintings or pictures.

Just scuff up the tile, paint an acrylic base coat color of your choice then, draw your picture on it.  It's instantly ready to hang up.... well after it dries and you really should put a clear coat over it for protection.
Did you know
I LOVE DONKEY'S!!!

Since I know you can all paint I hope to see your trivet creations soon! I had so much fun painting this little donkey... who knows maybe that's all I'll do for a while. God knows I have about 60 frames upstairs just waiting for pictures! Thanks guys for stickin' with me on my creative journey!

SZQ - love the comment response that you have stockpiled about 60 frames - we artists are such funny creatures - collectors. Love that you are so skilled with the torch and brush. the donkey looks great. Hope they sell like hot cakes. B

Just Lovely, your Art really has a cheerful Vibe to it that I enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit... yes, the 'rotation' has begun in earnest at this ole house! *Winks* This will be a much more thorough Edit and Purge than ever before though out of necessity more than any other reason. I agree, hard to assess if it is a 'problem' or just that I have so many things I am drawn to and some have a Season and others are more abiding in my passion for them. The Man is Hospitalized again and the VA Hospital is just so far from Home and juggling the G-Kids and School Schedules with Hospital Visits can be quite a challenge... so I have precious little time to devote to taking care of stuff... simplifying will just make much more sense right now. The two G-Kids we're raising have Special Needs so their Doctor & Specialist Visits have been a constant, perhaps in time that won't always be the case... but until then... it just is what it is. Adapt and improvise is my Mantra. *Winks* Thanks for your kind words, it really is uplifting when the Blog Community responds during the more challenging times of Life.
