"ARROYO"

A dry channel through which water flows intermittently and irregularly. Kind of like this blog.

My art is an infectious need for me, sometimes a burden but most often a blessing.

This blog is about me and my obsessions, my loves, my need to create and my need of JUNK. I'm addicted to thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets and all roads leading off the beaten track to discover that perfect piece of junk. I recycle old license plates, old shovels, wheelbarrows, saw blades and anything else that's funky using my hand held plasma cutter. I love working with steel, sculpting, photography, watercolor painting, stained glass, and turning everyday utilitarian objects into art. Junked cars ~ I will always veer off the path to search out the beautiful wrecked Arroyo JunKers throughout Arizona, New Mexico and anywhere else the road may lead. When I'm not searching for those JunKers

Shovel Art #4 - Hippie Zen Love 3D

Ok - so I've always been a hippie at heart.  Would love to run around in long skirts and short shirts with no shoes.  Wear a headband of flowers - I've got the long hair still so that will work, but sadly when you get a certain age you just can't pull off that look anymore.  So, in memory of those Hippie days long past here's a Hippie/Love/Zentangle/Peace Shovel with a few flowers thrown in... you know the headbands of flowers we used to wear.

I'm still working on the stand - have to just meditate on that for a while.  Ideas Anybody?

Beautiful! I just don't understand where the middle photograph fits into the shovel. Is that a separate piece? I'm in love! You would be a wonderful Hippie 'of a certain age'. :o) xoDonna

LOVING the Hippie Art, your work is superb... and I'm still trying to pull off that look because I don't think I ever left the 60's... it's just MY fav Era and I still Love everything about it as much as I did when it was the Present and not the Past! *Winks* Even if I'm old now, I still feel good in those Styles... and better to be looked over than overlooked. *Winks* Go for those Demijohn Bottles at Rust & Roses I say... and yes, you can say Dawn made you do it! *LOL* That's why I can only make occassional visits to my fav shops... I'm always too tempted & runnin' out of space to put it all so I'm in Spring Cleaning edit/purge mode right now to rotate Treasures! Otherwise I'm sure to be on a future episode of Hoarders!!! *LOL*

SZQ-what a joyful piece of work; and so intricate. I just can imagine the amount of control required to create something so free flowing and yet so complex. An the time to get such a polish on the steel. You might give the impression that this is just a simple tilt at hippy era but in reality it is a masterful-mistressful piece of work. Great. B
