"ARROYO"

A dry channel through which water flows intermittently and irregularly. Kind of like this blog.

My art is an infectious need for me, sometimes a burden but most often a blessing.

This blog is about me and my obsessions, my loves, my need to create and my need of JUNK. I'm addicted to thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets and all roads leading off the beaten track to discover that perfect piece of junk. I recycle old license plates, old shovels, wheelbarrows, saw blades and anything else that's funky using my hand held plasma cutter. I love working with steel, sculpting, photography, watercolor painting, stained glass, and turning everyday utilitarian objects into art. Junked cars ~ I will always veer off the path to search out the beautiful wrecked Arroyo JunKers throughout Arizona, New Mexico and anywhere else the road may lead. When I'm not searching for those JunKers

The Sun Sets on another One

Leaving Sunday evening I was presented with a beautiful sunset to finish off a productive weekend. It's behind me now all but a distant memory and it's only been a day.  It was a good weekend and I'm happy with the results.  I've got 5 commissioned Licence Plate Butterflies to complete and came home with a lighter load. Guess that's what we all strive for.
I didn't get out much to wonder around but my fellow creative soul next to me made ceramics and I had some beautiful cactus that I watched each day and admired the way the light played on each beautiful spine.  I especially loved this pink cactus above.

This very little cactus was 50 yrs old and sometimes takes that long to bloom.. Seriously!

I loved the creative containers he made to mimic the beautiful cactus that were in them.
Even my art looked wonderful in the setting golden sun
I couldn't leave empty handed so I purchased this beautiful "crassula campfire" succulent that was ablaze with color morning and evening.
I also had a fellow blogger drop in and it was so nice to meet Dawn of Bohemian Valhalla  and how fun it was to see ME featured in someone elses blog!!  She posted a crazy long post on my art.  It's so nice to connect with this blogging world face to face!  Thank you Dawn for all your kind words and taking the time to drop in and introduce yourself - it was a pleasure to meet you and you're beautiful G-Force kids :).

Awww... Thanks for giving me a Shout Out too! And for dropping by for a Blog Visit. The New GW is on the corner of Dysart & Camelback in the far West Valley, very close to Litchfield Park. The Staff there are so Sweet & really seem to be working hard to make the Store look distinctive and Fresh. I suppose that is one of the reasons why I was so irritated that a single customer caused them so much un-necessary Drama by imposing her Will upon everyone else... it was the manner in which she did it that I found to be inappropriate, regardless of her viewpoint, which I might have respected otherwise. It seemed to boost the morale of the Staff that I bought up the Creations they had to take down and appreciated their Imaginative Creativity... so it was a story with a happy ending in spite of the Drama. *LOL* I so enjoyed meeting you in person and enjoying your Gallery of Fabulous Creations... so glad that it was a good Show... we certainly enjoyed the entire Day there.

SZQ - glad the event went well and that you came home with a lighter load and a few commissions - well done to you. And yes it is such a buzz to have fellow bloggers turn up and make the connection. We had Carol Cantrell visit from the south on another of her road trips. And it is good that we can shout out and praise the creativity of each other. Love the sun on the rusted flower forms. Go well. B

BS - It is fun to meet these people we connect with - makes it all seem a little more real. I haven't forgotten this Iris project. Finalizing the commissions then will see where we stand with shipping.
