Like I've mentioned before I don't create anything that I wouldn't want to see in my home or in my garden everyday. It really is a struggle for me when a piece sells - I feel like I'm losing a child, like a piece of me is lost forever. Maybe because there is usually only one - it won't be duplicated exactly or mass produced or purchased in any department store and I always wonder each time if I'll be able to do it again. I've always been drawn to and surrounded myself with art that is out of the ordinary, quirky, fun and reminds me of nature and when I look at it, it just makes me feel at home. That's what looking at these sculptures does for me - makes me feel comfortable and at home. It's hard to give that up!
I know I'm rambling, but I would love to hear how you other artists feel about your art....
If you didn't have to make a living off of your art and money wasn't an issue would you surround yourself with it?
Are you sad when you sell it?
Or am I just weird? Ok... don't answer that one!
Don't forget !!
If you're in the Phoenix area stop on over at the Botanical Gardens off of Galvin Parkway

Selling ones are is like selling ones Children. You have to be ready. HA! Love the shovel. xoDonna
My art is always mine! I only allow people to adopt what I create. It is like my children all over the world but I no longer have to feed them! and like a lot of artists, much of what I create I can't afford!
Love our mosaic of the work......Happy lacy shovels! xox Corrine
SZQ-hope that the weekend went really well and that you got to sell heaps of stuff; and got to share lots of laughter with folk. In the main I like to see my bits and pieces travel - I think of it as sending joy travelling - bits of happiness shared. There are some pieces that are the first or resonate in a special way that I tend to keep - sometimes for a while until I think it is right to let it go; and there are other pieces I won't sell I prefer to gift them on. Go well. B
Thanks everyone for you feedback on your art. I'm glad I'm not alone. BS - I like the concept of "sending joy travelling"! I got rained out today in Phx so I had to pack up last night with wind & rain - but the two days were prosperous so I can't complain.
hahaha!! i like this post :) btw, that shovel is super cool!! and now about the art ... i used to feel like that you know ... sad when my work sells. now i am mighty happy!! becos i know that it's going out to someone who will love it. and like stonepost says ... my art is always mine ... it's just gone travelling ... faaaaaar away to the US, Europe, Australia etc ... places not even i have been ... but my work is there :) a little girl from a somewhat unknown place, making stuff with her hands and thought no one would even wanna look at them! and now they have gone far and wide. and a piece of this little girl travels with them :) what's not to be happy about?
