"ARROYO"

A dry channel through which water flows intermittently and irregularly. Kind of like this blog.

My art is an infectious need for me, sometimes a burden but most often a blessing.

This blog is about me and my obsessions, my loves, my need to create and my need of JUNK. I'm addicted to thrift stores, estate sales, flea markets and all roads leading off the beaten track to discover that perfect piece of junk. I recycle old license plates, old shovels, wheelbarrows, saw blades and anything else that's funky using my hand held plasma cutter. I love working with steel, sculpting, photography, watercolor painting, stained glass, and turning everyday utilitarian objects into art. Junked cars ~ I will always veer off the path to search out the beautiful wrecked Arroyo JunKers throughout Arizona, New Mexico and anywhere else the road may lead. When I'm not searching for those JunKers

Barbed Wire Heart & Flowers

The end of a HOT HOT week hasn't produced what I'd like to get done, but I did brave the heat to play with the barbed wire I gathered a few weeks ago.  Truly just messing around with it - and since I love hearts I created a caged heart surrounded by many hand shaped hearts, just for fun.
Then I had to clean out the garage of all those dishes I gathered for the glass flowers I was making.  I don't think they will be something to add to what I sell since they are too fragile, a pain to transport and I've moved on from them..... so I just made a few more just for the heck of it.  The yard is filling up with beautiful sparkly flowers that will never die ~ even in this heat.

This is what you do when you're brain is fried in the heat..... just stack them all up and you've got some crazy flower totem.

I'm outta this heat late next week for another adventure..... stay tuned.  :)

I think the caged heart is clever and gorgeous but the glass...oh my goodness! I collected vintage glass when I lived in the States and don't anymore when I go back for visits...because I just couldn't justify it. But now...maybe I can try making some flowers.

SZQ - great sense of design with the caged heart - barbed wire -bound in or keeping others out? I always love how you see flowers in the glass bits you collect - tis a shame that they are difficult to transport - every garden needs one. Go well and create well in the heat. B

Bohe: You can totally make these! Just need a few tools.
BS - I like your concept of bound in/keep out. I agree every garden needs one, but I won't be makin' them that's for sure. :)

Your caged heart looks terrific and I LOVE your glass flowers ... especially the first one. I agree with Barry, every garden needs one.

Hope you are enjoying the last few weeks of summer!

Hugs,
Gaby...enjoyed your music

How do you attach the stake in the back? Pics please

Takin' the back road from Greer to Morenci was gorgeous. This was waiting at the end.
